open file in excel 2007 then press ribbon and go to Save as, you will see Excel 1997-2003 Workbook option, click on it and save file.

∙ 13y agoOpen the file with Excel 2007 and save as an Excel 2007 file. Other than that, you might be able to find a file converter program to do it for you, but I am not sure why.
