There is a 4" hole for the inlet near the top of every properly made septic tank. You connect the drain to this by gluing if it's a plastic pipe or by a 'Robar' joint if it's a cast iron pipe.

How do you tie water softner into septic line?

You must first connect a 1/2 inch PVC pipe to the outlet for the regeneration fitting on the softner and run this pipe outside and trench to the sewer drain and tie into sewer drain. The sewer drain will then flow the brine regenerater fluid to the septic tank.

When the toilet is flushed water comes up the kitchen sink There is a cesspit is this dangerous?

If by the word 'cesspit' you mean a septic system, then the pipe is plugged between the house and the primary tank. You must have a 'cleanout' in the wall somewhere above where the main drain goes outside. Find this and snake it, - or get a septic pumping company to pump out your tank and then snake the pipe from the tank end while it is empty.

What is the purpose of the Septic tank vent?

Any empty tank is really a tank full of air. If you want water to go into a tank or pipe or drain then you have to allow the air to escape out of it. We allow the air to escape through a "vent pipe," connected to the tank. When refering to septic tanks, this pipe is called a "septic tank vent." Unless we use a zeocarbon filter on the "septic tank vent", the vile air coming out smells like a combination of rotten eggs and ammonia. Some septic tanks are upgraded to include aeration systems where electric or solar powered aerators bubble air into the liquid in the septic tank. Although these systems treat water faster and produce cleaner treated wastewater you still need a "septic tank vent," to let the air escape from the tank so water can go into it.

How deep can a septic tank be. Is it ok to put gravel on top, or dirt Will it hurt the drain field?

Septic tanks may be installed at any depth in the soil. The main factors that determine the depth of the tank are sewer line depth, and the site conditions. It is ok to put gravel or dirt over your septic tank. If you have six or more inches of dirt you can grow grass as well.Putting gravel or dirt over the septic tank will not harm the drain field.

How does a septic tank look?

A septic tank and its accompanying drain field are both several feet underground, and so from ground level they do not "look" like anything at all. Sometimes grass is more green over a septic tank, but this is not necessarily so. Even a septic tank specialist cannot locate your tank by looking. They would need to use a special probe or a line detector.

How do you unclog a vent pipe on a septic and well?

There is no single vent pipe on a septic and well. ( -Or if there is, someone has made a colossal and dangerous error. ) - If the vent on your septic is clogged, then your tank is way past it's time to be pumped out, and that MUST happen before you clean the vent.

Can you shower with a broken septic tank?

Broken how? As long as the drain is still connected to the tank the water will go into it. Where it goes after that depends on where and how it is broken.
