There should be a seep hole in the front of the pump either under or behind the pulley. Usually if the pump is done, there will be coolant leaking from there. If you are rebuilding the motor, it is cheap insurance just to replace the pump.
asapHow do you check for a bad water pump on a Nissan quest
The mark 8 could have a bad thermostat, or a bad water pump. Check the coolant level, then the thermostat and water pump. If these are ok, check the cooling fan circuit.
Check the water pump drive shaft. If water is leaking from the hole beneath the drive, it's definitely a bad water pump seal and you can't repair them.
The thermostat could be stuck, or the water pump may be bad. Removing the thermostat you can reconnect the system to see if water flows, if not then check your water pump.
the watetr pump will be noisy will leak water at water pump weep hole and motor will overheat. there is three ways to check water pump first with engine at normal temperature squeeze radiator top hose if water pump is okay you will feel a pressure surge as hose is released check for liquid leak at water pump and lastly grab water pump pulley and check for play if it is loose it will be noisy when running
bad water pump bad water pump check and see if the fan works too.
Check thermostat first(possibly not opening) or bad bearing water pump if turning.
Your pump lost its prime. Could be a bad seal in the pump head, a bad check valve, a leak in the suction line, or a dry well.
bad water pump or thermostat. check both.
is coolant leaking everywhere if not your good if so its bad
Check the hose that goes into your water pump but most likely it is a bad water pump dripping from the weep hole. I would replace the water pump if you can trace the water from that area
Not likely. The check engine light comes on for failures that raise the emissions of the vehicle.
