Set the multimeter to DC voltage in the 20 volt range. You will read 12.7 volts on a fully charged battery. 12.4 at 75% charge, 12.2 at 50%, 12.0 at 25%, and 11.9 or less on a discharged battery. You will read between 13.5 and 16 volts on the battery posts with the engine running if the alternator is good.
Voltmeter or multimeter.
Battery not being kept charged. Drive the car to most Auto Parts stores. They will check the alternator for free. Or, if you have a multimeter, check the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running. Should be from 13.5-15 volts.
You can test a battery by using multimeter. Set the multimeter to the DC voltmeter setting and then place the leads of the multimeter across the leads of the battery. the multimeter will have a readout of the voltage.
It can but the Battery light should be on. Check with a digital multimeter what the voltage is at the battery, If its 13-14 volts with the car running the alternator is probably o/k
A battery tester is basically a voltmeter used while a resistor is draining the battery - For a car battery try an auto store for household batteries try Radio-Shack or make your own.
Probably need an alternator. Check your battery voltage with a multimeter, without the car running it should be around 12.5 volts with engine off. Start the car & check the battery voltage and if the alternator is charging properly it should be 13.5 or better at the battery. If not check the power terminal at the alternator itself and if only battery voltage (12 or so volts, same as battery) is there then the alternator is not charging.
probably has a bad alternator. With the car running use a digital multimeter an you should have 13 + volts (as high as 14.5+) at the battery terminals if the alternator is working. If only 12 volts or so then check the alternator.
To check the IC by the multimeter, you have to make sure that the pointer points at the current. You can then connect the multimeter across the check the IC.
check the alternator. Use a digital multimeter and with engine running you should have 13-14 volts at the battery. If less than 12.5 Alternator is not charging Also check the amperage the alternator is putting out.
In Digital multimeter we use 9V Dc battery.
well most obviously, charge the battery and turn on the mp3 player, if it doesn't turn on it's most liky dead, housever you should use a multimeter to check the actual battery. well most obviously, charge the battery and turn on the mp3 player, if it doesn't turn on it's most liky dead, housever you should use a multimeter to check the actual battery.
The symptom of a bad battery or cable is the starter is unable to get the power to start the engine. You can use a digital multimeter to check to see if it is the cables or test the battery for the definite cause.
