Remove left front wheel. At the front of the wheel well there is an access door for the battery. Remove it by either turning the fasteners 1/4 turn or, if there are push fasteners, pop up the centers of the fasteners and then you can pull out the whole fastener. Disconnect the cables, then disconnect the battery hold-down and remove the battery. You may have to remove the battery heater blanket if there is one.

The owners manual claims that it is possible to remove the battery without removing the wheel, just turn the front wheels all the way to the right. Because of the cumbersome weight of the battery, you are probably better off giving yourself the extra working space by removing the wheel. Support the car properly with a jack stand. Don't rely on the car jack to hold up the car while you are Wrestling around with the battery.

I just got done removing my battery from my sebring 2007 and it wasn't as bad as what I've read online. i didn't have to remove my tire at all, but it was a chore to get battery out! removing the splash guard was a pain "pull the tabs out before you pry them out, they have a slot on both sides to pry them out, which saves them". i must say the hardest part was getting the battery lock down bar back in place and secured. i thought my electronic throttle control was going out with what my display showed {car would just clicked when trying to start and wouldn't turn over, still had some life to battery?} but it was only a weak battery. i hope this helps anyone with this problem.
