you need to relase the tension pully to allow you more room for changing belt once done hold the pully tight by using a metal bar or pipe while tightning the nut ADD - Going from my 1990 layout, which is similar (i think) to the 91, you need to loosen the bolt facing up (between engine and alt), but you also need to loosen the front of the idler pulley. The front bolt locks the pulley down. DONT OVERTIGHTEN. A new belt is 140-180 lbs tight, or 110-150 for used using a belt tension gauge. If you overtighten, you will stress the rubber ring in the harmonic balancer (crank pulley) and it will eventually give out. ($120 for a new one in 2009)
if it has ac than 3 if not 2
or any other car, mostly the AC removes moisture On my 2008 Corolla, the AC light does not light up when the defroster is turned on. However, it DOES appear that the AC compressor is used. (my 2008 is the same as 2003 thru 2007, it is not the redesigned Corolla which an 09 in the USA.)
AC, alternator, power steering, and timing belts.
It needs one sepentine belt........If the Corolla has AC it needs one sepentine belt w/ac
The AC belts are probably stretched and loose. I had the same problem and replaced belts and cured squeak.
The ac, power steering and alternator will have separate tensioners (the units slide on a bracket to tighten) if they have separate belts. Loosen the units and the belts will come off. If a serpentine belt is used there only one tensioner.
You need to loosen the belts by backing off the tensioners. Since this is difficult to describe I would suggest investing in a manual that has illustrations showing how it's done.
give location of ac relay give location of ac relay
You can bypass the AC low pressure switch, on your Toyota Corolla, by removing the switch. You can remove the wiring to the switch and leave the switch and place.
The location of the AC fuse on a 1996 Toyota Corolla is underneath the hood. The fuse will be in the drivers side fuse box and should be clearly marked.

That is not true, there are 2 belts, one to power alt-water pump and one to power ac-power steering. They are both serpentine belts. There is no Serpentine belt on a 2.4 liter optima, there are 3 drive belts only
