its VERY simple. all you need to have is a ratchet and a 10mm, 13mm, and 14mm socket. disconnect the negative battery terminal with the 10mm. then with your hand, remove the small wire on the back of the starter by pulling firmly on the plastic piece. then take the 13mm nut off the back of the starter under the rubber boot for the battery lead--the big wire. then use the 14mm to remove the two bolts going through the bellhousing that attach the starter. reverse to install.

its really simple. first one i did took 25 minutes from start to finish.

go to autozone............

YOU NEED A LOT OF PATIENCE TO DO THIS JOB ITS TAKEN ME 3 HOURS TO REMOVE MY STARTER TODAY FIRST YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE BATTERY TERMINALS THEN 2 BOLTS THAT HOLD IT TO THE GEARBOX THEN REMOVE THE BRACKET ON THE BACK 2 10MM NUTS AND 1 17MM BOLT THEN REMOVE THE 13MM NUT THAT HOLDS THE ELECTRICS FROM THE BATTERY BEHIND THAT YOU WILL FIND THE LAST BOLT THAT HOLDS IT TO THE GEARBOX 3THEN YOU NEED TO JACK THE FRONT END OF THE CAR UP SO THE TORSION ARM DROPS FAR ENOUGH DOWN TO PASS THE STATER MOTOR THROUGH TO THE FRONT OF THE Jeep AND SHOULD WITH A LOT OF PATIENCE FALL OUT BETWEEN THE TORSION ARM AND THE FRONT AXLE

you will need a 17mm socket and open end spanner and a 13mm spanner, there are 3 bolts holding it on, 2 are accessable from below with the socket the 3rd you need to take airbox out to get to it. From underneath jack the c and disconnect the battery positive lead first and also the spade connector on the starter remove the 2 bolts, from in the egine bay remove the airbox and attached hoses this gives access to the 3rd bolt use 17mm spanner to loosen, you will have to pull the starter out as the bolt and slacken the bolt until it is out.wont pass the gear linkage

well you need the right tools ,dont even think a few tools you had from Woolworths in a car care kit will do the job ,think again proper tools jacks and a 5 ton jack if your doing it your self ,safety first ,its no good the car hitting and smashing your head in the ground leaving you unfit to drive,so get it right first and then have a go changing you starter motor i cant say no more ,because i have never changed one in my life i am like you ,i am doing mine tomorrow but safety first

The starter is under the intake on the V8 armada.. that's the car companies trying to keep people from working on their own vehicles.. pretty crappy if you ask me.
