After I sign up for direct deposit, do I have to stay with the same bank? No, you can use direct deposit at any federally insured bank, savings and loan or credit union. If you move your account, call Social Security's toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), and a Social Security representative will change your direct deposit information. Open the new account and make sure your deposits are going to the new bank, savings and loan or credit union before you close the old account.

You have to change your direct deposit info in the store on one of the computers using The Spot. Can't remember where to go in the spot but that's a start.
You need to contact the person to whom you have given the direct deposit instructions (Usually your employer) and submit a written request to change the direct deposit account number. In the request you need to mention the new account number into which you expect the money to be credited. In most cases, employers have a website in which you can login and change your direct deposit account details. If they don't have it, a written letter should do.
