Well for me it is normal.
Remove thermostat housing, remove old thermostat, clean surfaces, install new gasket and thermostat.

That's not what is leaking, & you'd have to pull motor to do it. These leak from the oil filter arm or the rear main seal.
Possibly a leaky valve cover gasket allowing oil to seep out and down on to exhaust manifold.
with wrenches.
drop the pan...
The oil dipstick has a small gasket at the bottom of the dipstick. Replace the gasket with a new one and the oil should stop leaking.
Only when it is leaking.
My '96 Cherokee Sport does, so I bet a '98 does.
under the dash in your fuse panel . it will say radio .
