That should have a 4.6L and the egr is easily accessible by the throttle body although more often than not the egr valve is fine but the ports are plugged so take the throttle body horn off the plenum, should have 4 bolts, and u will see what looks like a horse shoe under the gaset... that is the egr port and it will probably be plugged solid with carbon... good luck

Bad idling isn't dude to low compression it's due to the Throttle position sensor or the EGR valve, possibly a vacuum leak. If you are daring us a flammable liquid to find the vacuum leak, a safer method is to use a mechanics stethoscope.
