There are several ways on how to become sober especially from drugs and alcohol addiction. An addict can acquire sober support when if he/she will undergo a drug rehabilitation program to treat drug addiction. If you mean short-term, the only way to sober up is time. Eating food, drinking coffee, taking a shower (etc.) will not help you much if at all.
The first thing you have to do is admit that your way doesn't work. Then the perfect program would be something like: medical detox, followed by a 90-day, 12-Step-based, inpatient rehab program, followed by aftercare and extensive attendance at 12-Step meetings. You work down from there, with whatever you can manage. The important thing is to have some kind of early guidance from professionals, if at all possible, and support from other people who have been successful at remaining clean and sober -- along with staying away from people, places and things associated with your addiction for a good long while. This is not to say you can't get sober and stay sober just attending AA meetings, or religion-based programs -- or even all on your own. We are only pointing out the ways that, in our well-informed opinion, seem to work the best. Good luck!
If you happen to drink alot of beer in your spare time or at a party, it is wise to drink a glass of water after every glass of beer or bottle of beer. This allows the beer to rush through your system faster rather than be contained in your stomach. Beer is hard on the stomach because the stomach cannot digest it.
Time, pure and simple. The body must be given ample time to metabolize the alcohol in your body--roughly an hour per 12oz beer, though this will vary based on several physical factors such as age, gender and body composition.
Unfortunately, popular remedies such as black coffee and cold showers will only result in a more wide awake, cleaner drunk.
