You don't need any specific education, but it might pay to check out any DJing courses you have available nearby.

The main thing you need is good taste in music. Know what the people want.

You'll need a good presenting voice, and most of all, you'll need plenty of money to get started. You need to buy mixers, amps, speakers, and all good DJ's have plenty of lights, lasers, and smoke machines! Haha.

well im only an up and coming DJ but from what I have heard all of those courses most schools offer dont really help out at all. one big thing is that you should stay with the same style of music the whole night. Also you will run into many types of people (if you play at clubs who might be high,drunk, or both, if these types of people ask for a request and you are worrying about them knocking your teeth in just tell them"I'll see if i have that". One last tip is dont go to a party that you will be dj high or drunk, after all the party is not all about you and you need to be alert at what you are doing all the time incase something does go wrong. big ups :)

A love of music, a vivid imagination, the ability to work in cramped areas surrounded by electrical equipment giving off heat and gigawatts of lighting just above your head and a big mouth if you want to be mobile or club DJ.

To be a studio DJ, the ability to prattle on to yourself for hours, and the imagination that someone out there is listening and gives a damn.

Do you think I've become just a tad embittered about DJing.

And if your mobile, Don't forget the ability to deal with very drunk people asking for the same song over and over again even though you've just played it for them.

And the sado that wants something from 1900 you certainly won't have, then they tell you you're sh1t cos you not got it.

Most of all you need to be a people person not being able to get on with total strangers makes for a bad DJ and a basic knowledge of electrical/electronics and computer systems helps but not absolutely necessary
