If you are using a prepared mix, follow the directions on the back of the package.

Two scratch recipes are :

MOTHER'S FROM SCRATCH BLACK CHOCOLATE CAKE1/4 c. shortening

1 c. sugar

1 egg

3 tbsp. cocoa

1/4 c. sour milk

3/4 tsp. soda

1/2 c. boiling water

1 c. flour

Beat shortening, sugar and egg together. Add cocoa and mix well. Mix sour milk, soda and boiling water together. Add alternately, sour milk mixture and then flour. Beat until no lumps. Will be thin batter. Bake in greased 8 x 8 inch glass or tin baking pan at 375 degrees for approximately 40 to 45 minutes or until it tests done in center. Mother used toothpick or straw test. Delicious iced with Almond Butter Cream Frosting.

SCRATCH POUND CAKE

Cream 3 cups sugar with 6 egg yolks, one at a time

Sift 3 cups flour 3 times.

Mix with: 1 tsp. salt (alternately, add 2 tsp. lemon extract)

Fold in 6 beaten egg whites.

Bake at 350 degrees until done.

CHOCOLATE CAKE

1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, flour and cocoa. In a small bowl, beat eggs; add to dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix until smooth.

2. Cook over medium heat(210 degrees)

3. If lumps form, use an electric mixer and beat until smooth after removing from heat.

4. Add vanilla and butter; beat in. Pour into pie crust; set out to cool.

To bake a cake, first you have to have all the ingredients in your kitchen. You also have to have a bowl and a pan and an oven to bake it in. There are lots of additional ingredients are, but basically you need flour, eggs, sugar, oil, water, vanilla, baking powder, and maybe some milk. Depending on what type of cake you will make, you might want to add chocolate or some other ingredients to make the cake super yummy. After you bake the cake, get a fork and napkin and eat it. But not all at once, or you might get a tummy ache. Have fun baking your cake!

Yellow Cake cooking test recipe :

Preheat the oven to 175° C / 350° F/ gas mark 4.

Grease two 12" round, or square, or rectangular pans

Add together and set aside :

  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

Blend the other ingredients :

(Add the buttermilk along with the flour mixture, remove lumps)

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs (one at a time)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups buttermilk

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.

Preheat the oven to 170degrease/ 325 Fahrenheit gas mark3.

To make a cake you will need: 2 eggs, 4oz butter,4oz sugar, 4oz self-raising flour.(4oz=125g)

Put all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk together for about 2,3 mins on a low set.

After the mixture is ready pore some in one cake tin and the rest in the other cake tin.

Then bake in the oven for about 20mins or until golden.

Make sure to check it is cooked by digging a knife in the middle of each cake.

Depending on the type of cakes you want to make, the process of making them varies accordingly.

The process of making a basic sponge cake is started by preparing your oven to be heated at certain temperature. The typical baking temperatures are 170ºC to 190ºC. You would also need to prepare a cake tin or cake pan or cake mold. Normally we'll use round shape cake tin with the diameter of 9 inches. We will have to line the cake tin with baking paper and greased so that we can remove the cake from tin easily after baking.

After preparing the baking oven, we'll proceed to beat our ingredients such as eggs and sugar together using an electric beater. Using electric beater is easier as we do not need to whisk it our self using hand. Also, our hand will tires easily.

We'll have to beat the eggs and sugar until they are fluffy and light with stiff peaks. Next, we may need to stir in melted butter and our desired flavoring like vanilla essence. After stirring them evenly, we can fold in the flour. The flour would have to be sifted before folding them in.

Finally, we can pour the finished batter into the cake tin and bake the cake for typically half hour or 45 minutes until it cooked. We can check if the cake has properly baked by using a skewer.

Its really simple to make a cake.

1. Use the bathroom.

2. Take out the waste.

3. wash your hands.

4. Heat up the oven to 10001 degrees. Take the waste you recived, and if its a liquid, boil it. If its a solid, spread it in a pan. Add batteries and TV remote and one tablespoon of monkey fur.

5. Put the solid in the oven for the an hour and a half. Liquid? Add dirt, rocks, creme soda, a tablespoon of monkey fur, and a TV remote and one triple A battery. Mix it, then put in the oven for an hour and a half.

6. Take out of the oven. Cool for half an hour.

7. Take to party.

8. Cut it up.

9. Pass out slices.

10. Take a bite and enjoy this all natural cake!

If you want to bake a normal sponge cake, the recipe is very simple. Start by mixing 10oz of butter or margarine with 10oz of caster sugar. Mix well until it has gone pale. Then add 5 eggs and mix thoroughly. Next sift in 10oz of self raising flour and combine with a spoon or spatula until completely mixed. If you like then you could add a tsp of vanilla extract, or a little coco powder if you want a chocolate sponge. Then grease 2 sponge tins and share the mixture equally between both. Bake until golden brown and the cake is coming away from the edges of the tins. When the sponges have cooled down enough, tip onto a cooling rack. Then, when they are completely cold you can decorate however you like. In a classic Victoria sponge recipe, a layer of jam and butter cream is spread between the two sponges and icing sugar is sifted on top.
