If and only if your engine is a quad-4, then the easiest way to replace the serpentine belt is to take a 13mm box-end wrench, double it up with a similar-sized wrench (make a double-wrench such that the open-end of the 13mm is inside the box-end of the other wrench), and get underneath the front of the car on the passenger side. The serpentine tensioner is located above the A/C compressor but below the alternator. Take your double-ended wrench with the 13mm box-end pointing up, and place it on the nut for the tensioner. Turn the nut (I forget if it's clockwise or counter-clockwise) and the belt should slacken up so that you can slip it off.
Personally, I have made a special tool to loosen the belt from above the engine, but the clearance is such that only the slimmest of tools can fit. Hope that helps, and if your engine isn't a quad-4, then this info is irrelevant.
The Pontiac grand prix became front wheel drive in 1988-present. Before '88 it was rear wheel drive.
no, you do not need a compression tool to remove or replace them
Remove Distributor,remove drive gear,remove shaft,remove pickup coil.
Remove serpentine belt, alternator, and power steering pump. Remove 4 water pump pulley bolts. Remove water pump housing bolts. Remove water pump.
Loosen the tensioner pulley on your 1988 Chevrolet Corsica. When the tensioner pulley is loose the serpentine belt will easily come off. Put the new serpentine belt on and tighten the tensioner pulley.
The shocks are there for a reason. Removing them would cause damage.
2.2L Engine 1. Partially drain the engine coolant from the vehicle. 2. Remove the serpentine drive belt from the vehicle. 3. Loosen and position the alternator to one side. 4. Unbolt the water pump pulley, then remove the pulley. 5. Unbolt the water pump, then remove the pump and gasket. 6. Clean the gasket areas thoroughly.
first remove the belt by inserting a 3/8" drive in the square hole on the tensiner, then remove the one bolt just below the tensioner and then remove the center bolt on the pully (allen wrench).
Wheel balance or drive shaft balance. Could be bearings also.
Why not. Same engine, same car, and frame. Just compare the two to make sure.
I have to jump start my Pontiac Bonneville 1988 everyday I drive it why is that.
In a 1988 Pontiac Grand Am you will find the clutch slave cylinder located on the flywheel. You will need to remove the hush panel from the driver's side foot well to gain access to the clutch slave cylinder.
