Satellites help us explore space by giving us information by orbiting in space. Without satellites we wouldn't get simple things like the weather forcast, television, or we wouldn't be able to travel... easily.

∙ 14y agoRockets are the only source f transportation that can with stand spaces atmosphere. As planes need air to fly and there is no oxygen or air in space, only low gravity.

Weather satellites use many imaging and sensing technologies to help us predict the weather, but they are not useful in helping us determine our location. They are two different types of satellites with two different purposes. There are many other types of satellites too, such as communication satellites (such as used with Direct TV), space telescopes (such as Hubble) etc.
