The coyote is fast, so it can catch its prey. It also has good camouflage. When they cant find rabbits or other arthropods, reptiles or rodents, they can eat plants like the cactus, juniper and gourd seeds, screw beans, fan palm fruit, dates and sometimes dry grass. a coyote adapts by sniffing out the nearest water this can take many days even weeks and it depends entirely one its noes this can be very dangerous and often many coyotes die but when they reach it they burrow 5 meters below ground and make there home there can be 30 coyotes at one oasis and that one dries up they all form int o a pack and move on the next one.
