What I do is use Pinger sites, like pingomatic.com where you can "ping" your blog into search engines which should (in my experiences, it has!) increase your readership!
Also, if you have a youtube channel, you can make a link on your channel homepage to your blog (where I have got some of my readers from), also you could put out a statement on answers.com (here) asking people to check out your blog and see if they like it, surely you'll get some eyes flittering over your blog in no time at all!
