First get up a letter to anyone you want. Second write some really nice things about them like "great hair" or "cool clothes." Then just send it out to the person through the post office, and the person will most likely send you something back with their letter. Usually they will like the letter you send, no matter what you say.

∙ 14y agoThey can't understand you. That clever feature has not been programmed into the game. There are a set number of standard responses they can give you and the response in the letter back is chosen randomly. :'(

∙ 14y agoI think if you try to rip villagers off, which I know many people do by sending them a native fruit or a shell and sending the same message to each person, all of them will not understand your letter. Try to add a little personal touch to each letter. You can still rip them off with the shell or fruit, (they'll ALWAYS send you something back unless they don't understand it, which I described above why that happens) that doesn't matter, just try and say little things like "Surprise!" or "I thought you'd like this." Make sure they are real sentences, real words, and nothing like WUZ UP or HOW R U. They won't get that. At all. Hope this helps.
