If you have a USB 2.0 the tranfers rate will be about 480Mbps, where as USB 1.1 is only around 12Mbps.
If speed isn't the issue there is no problem as all USB standards are backward compatible and still operate even if it is at 12Mbps.
Anything that says Hi Speed USB will be a 2.0.

Also you are not giving the model number, maybe it is a serial number you are giving or something else

Yes you can. Its actually good to do so once in a while to keep the hubs lubricated. 10 or 20 miles every few months should do the trick. I used mine for offroading, and I would simply lock in the hubs at the start of a trail and just engage the 4x4 when I needed it.
