Occurring in February/March of 1836, the Battle of the Alamo had numerous effects and consequences. Just one short-term effect was the capture of San Antonio de Bexar (that is, modern San Antonio) by the Mexican forces, which then used it as their base-of-operations for further hostilities against the 'Texian' enemy.
