More or less the entire German 6th army was annihilated, the Romanian 3rd and 4th armies were also nearly destroyed as well as the Italian army in Russia. So in other words the axis lost a lot of troops, a lot more than they could afford to loose.

Also showed the rest of the world that Germany was Not invincible.

It tied up and then destroyed large amounts of German war-making capability and kept them from getting control over important Russian oil fields to the south. Psychologically, it showed the Allies that the German Army could be defeated and showed German Generals that Hitler was capable of making major blunders.

The battle of Stalingrad finally showed the West that the Soviets and the allies could beat the Germans, The lost of Stalingrad would have force The Soviet Union to surrender leaving the rest of the Allies without the Russians to keep the eastern front going. Also to the South Of Stalingrad is a city called Baku which held 84% of all the soviet oil supplies with this it would have sufficiently made the Germans more powerful to take on the west.

Battle of Stalingrad was a turning point in World War 2 because at the end of the battle, the German's lost over 80% of it's initial size before the battle. Due to this, the Axis declined from the rapid advancing Soviets. Also it was a crushing defeat for the Germans morally as the entire German 6th Army was either killed or captured.

The Battle of Stalingrad was the first significant German defeat.

If the Germans would have won that battle, then the war probably would have lasted longer than it did.
