There are two views on this. The first is that he utterly loathed Jews since his late teens. That's what he says in his book "Mein Kampf", but there's no reason to trust anything he says. In his book he tries to show himself as the 'saviour of Germany' and so anything that suggests that he changed his ideas looks bad unless he can explain it. The second view (see Ian Kershaw's biography) is that Hitler grew up with the ordinary anti-Jewish prejudices of his time, region and religion (Roman Catholic in Linz and Vienna). According to this view, his prejudices only developed into apparently obsessive hatred at the end of WW1 or even slightly later, when he discovered his talent for making rabble-rousing speeches. The logic of this version of the second view is that his hatred of the Jews was largely opportunistic. (It's possible of course that he fell victim to his own Propaganda).

Many people think it is just because his father was Jewish and he beat him and left him and his mother, whom he loved very much, but that is not the main meaning. Not many people know this, but when Hitler's mother was dying, she went to the doctor for medicine or surgery or something like that, and the doctor did nothing. He let her die. There is no record of her wanting to let go, so it clearly states that the doctor let someone who could have been saved die. They had the ability to save her and could have. I know of no money issues. She could pay, they could save her, the doctor just sat on his butt and did nothing. When she died and Hitler heard of this, the rage he went into cannot be measured. He loved his mother more than anyone in this world could love something. This doctor just happened to be Jewish. So Hitler sterotyped him and became the greatest hater of Jews you will ever know. Another reason he got away with bad things happening to Jews was because, at the time, Europe was very anti-Jewish. The public only saw the political hatred of Jews. Only when the Allies arrived did they see the camps.

You know, it's funny to know that Hitler was a Jew himself! Or, in the very least, was born of Jewish heritage! He didn't just dislike the Jewish community, much less the entire Jewish population, he HATED it! With virtually all his hate on anyone, anything, or everything of a certain kind.

___________

There is no evidence that Hitler was of Jewish origin. Of course the story was used by opponents to make him look a hypocrite and more recently it has been used as a really spicy example of the ultimate in 'Jewish self-hatred'. Ian Kershaw covers the matter thoroughly in his excellent two-volume biography of Hitler, pub. in 1999. On pages 7-9 of Vol. 1 Kershaw dispells the myth and explains its origins.

The earliest firm evidence of his antisemitism dates from 1916, when he was aged 28.

Hitler was a radical Darwinian and took Darwin's book as his bible. He saw this as the fight for the fittest.
