My Little Pony started in 1983 by an American designer, Bonnie Zacherle. In 1981 they had submitted a design patent in August, which was granted in 1983, and she began working for Hasbro.
The first ponies were Rainbow Ponies, other variations were So-Soft Ponies, Twinkle-Eyed Ponies, Twice-As-Fancy Ponies, Brush-N-Grow Ponies, Pony Friends, and Baby Ponies. An animated My Little Pony series started in 1986 and ran to 1987. The first generation of My Little Ponies were sold in the USA for 10 years but went until 1995. The final year was called the "celebration year" of My Little Pony.
