How Antoninus Pius treated his slaves/the slaves he owned is not known. He introduced legislation which made the emancipation of slaves easier. Previously restrictions on emancipation had been put into place because of the high rates of manumission (emancipation of slaves).
Antoninus Pius was the 15th Emperor of the Roman Empire
Antoninus Pius was a Roman emperor who ruled from 138 to 161 AD, during the time of the Roman Empire. Democracy as we understand it today did not exist in ancient Rome. The Roman Empire was an autocratic and monarchic system with emperors having absolute power, so it would be inaccurate to describe Antoninus Pius as a democrat.
It was Julian the Apostate who tried to revive the worship of the old Roman gods and bring the empire back to the original Roman values.
The emperor Caracalla extended Roman citizenship to all the freeborn in the empire in 212 AD.
Polytheism, Roman style.

Slaves
With the exception of working in mineral extraction Roman slaves probably had it better. A Roman slave could earn his freedom or advance himself which was not the case with plantation slaves in the deep south.

Ancient Rome's vast expanse of territory was home to slaves almost anywhere one looked. After the revolt of Spartacus, I am not aware of any benefits that came about. The slaves were treated harshly and they eventually became a problem based on economics as slaves were used as field workers on large estates, thereby making free Roman citizens hard pressed at times to find work.
No, the slaves had a really hard time.
the roman empire started because instead of killing the people they sold them to be slaves
In the development of the Roman empire the Romans treated citizenship as a privilege. Automatic citizenship (after serving) was one of the reasons that Rome was able to recruit so many auxiliaries.
They were slaves and prosecuted.
