going to new york is the simple answer. The more complicated answer is that his choice to leave New York in the first place, and take an extended honeymoon in Europe and Egypt, had much to do with the shunning of himself and his new, much younger wife from New York society. Another answer, equally correct is that he and his wife had decided to cut short their extended honeymoon and return home, due to the fact that Madeleine had discovered while abroad, that she was pregnant. And so, the couple, wanting their baby to be born in New York, returned earlier than anticipated and hence, booked passage on the RMS Titanic.

''dressed in our best and prepared to go down with this ship'' that is what JJ Astor stated. he died on the starboard bridge wing. he went down with the ship. he waited with his sceptacle wife in the gymnaisiun and cut open a life preserver to show his wife what they were made of, when she was put into a lifeboat with there maid he asked lightoller if he could sit with his wife because she was so scared, Astor was refused a seat on the lifeboat because it was only women and children at the time. she was in lifeboat 4. his body was later discovered on the 22nd of april by a ship called the mackay-bennett. he was reported to be unbrused or undamaged.
