Different authors provide somewhat different answers to this question. The following answers are in chronological order according to the date on which the account was probably written.

According to Paul, Jesus rose straight to heaven but was seen in the spirit.

Mark's Gospel, in its original form, does not say what happened. The women simply saw an empty tomb, where a young man told them that Jesus had risen. There were no appearances by the resurrected Jesus, but verses 16:9-20 were added clumsily by a later author, to bring this Gospel more or less into line with the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.

Matthew's Gospel says the women who had gone to the tomb saw Jesus while on the way to tell the disciples of their experience. Finally, the eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee and saw Jesus. Or at least some of them believed they did and worshipped Jesus, while others doubted it was Jesus. It may be that the evangelist was being careful to have a rational explanation if critics refused to believe in a physical resurrection.

Luke's Gospel records that Jesus appeared to two men, Cleopas and (presumably) Peter, on the road near Jerusalem but they did not recognise him, even after conversing with him, inviting him home, and eating dinner with him. They only assumed that he was Jesus based on his words and behaviour, but then he vanished out of their sight. Jesus appeared to the disciples once more and showed them his wounds, before being drawn up into heaven.

In John's Gospel, Mary Magdalene was the only woman who went to the tomb. She saw Jesus standing but did not recognise him, supposing that it was the gardener. That Jesus did not accompany Mary, when she went to report his message to the apostles, is suggestive of a fictional account. Jesus next appeared amongst the disciples, except Thomas, coming through a closed door, showed them his wounds and breathed the Holy Ghost upon them. Eight days later, Jesus appeared again to all the disciples, and once again we are assured that the door was shut. Finally, Jesus appeared to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberius but they dared to ask who he was, presumably meaning that his identity was not obvious.

Answer

According to Acts chapter 1 - before he ascended to heaven - for 40 days Jesus showed himself at various times to his disciples. By walking, talking, eating and drinking with them he offering the strongest possible proofs of his bodily resurrection (see Joh_20:19, Joh_20:26; Joh_21:1, Joh_21:14).

At one time Jesus appeared to a crowd of 500 believers in Galilee- 1Cor 15:6.

If you believe in him, then he was risen from the dead by God.
If you don't, like me, then he didn't. Religion is a glorified myth and Jesus probably never existed in the first place.

Answer:

Jesus was raised from the dead by His Father's power, the Holy Spirit:

"...therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as CHRIST WAS RAISED UP FROM THE DEAD BY THE GLORY OF THE FATHER, even so we should walk in newness of life." (Rom.6:4)

"...if THE SPIRIT OF HIM THAT RAISED UP JESUS FROM THE DEAD dwell in you, HE THAT RAISED UP CHRIST FROM THE DEAD shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you." (Rom.8:11)

A:It is unclear how Jesus was resurrected. The Apostle Paul, writing some years before the first gospel appeared, had a different understanding of the resurrection of Jesus than did the gospel authors. Even the gospels differ on just what happened when Jesus was resurrected.

In 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Paul said that Jesus died and was buried, rose again according to the scriptures, then was seen by Cephas, then the twelve, then by more than 500, most of whom were still alive, then by James and all the apostles, and finally by himself. Not only does this account differ in several important ways from the accounts that would later form part of the gospels, but Paul implied that the appearances were all of the same nature. There is no suggestion that any of the appearances to Cephas, the twelve, James or the apostles were somehow more real than the spiritual appearance he experienced. Elsewhere in his epistles, Paul shows that he believed that the resurrection and the ascension were one and the same event - Jesus was resurrected to heaven and did not appear again in the flesh.

The earliest of the gospel accounts was Mark's Gospel, written approximately 70 CE. This originally ended at verse 16:8, with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. This is fairly consistent with Paul's account, because there was no suggestion that Jesus appeared again on earth. The long ending (Mark 16:9-20) was added later, at a time when it had become accepted that the risen Jesus appeared again on earth, to provide evidence of resurrection appearances.

Even the later gospels disagree as to the circumstances of the discovery of the resurrection and the subsequent appearances of Jesus.

We don't know (there is no record) of the exact details of what happened. What we do know is that Jesus did rise again as recorded in all 4 Gospels and that this belief is central to the Christian faith.
