Some suggestions on how to accept criticism:

1. Listen carefully. Repreat the criticism in your own words so that you and your partner are sure about the nature of the conflict.

2. Try to see yourself as others see you. This change in perspective may show you something about yourself you didn't realize perviously.

3. Don't assume criticism in an assault on your behavior. Much critisism is intended to be constructive, but if we overreact neagatively, good discussion doesn't result from it.

Constructive criticism can be a way another person shows how much you mean to them.

Realize that it is somebody elses opinion and nothing more. If you feel comfortable with some of it and it can help you, use it. If it comes from someone with authority in that field, consider it a possibility. Don't take it personally, it's just meant to help.

Just keep your feelings in side. Listen to what they have to say and think it over

This is a tough one. I think my answer will be in general from how I would feel myself if I were to be criticised as an employee.

In a large company, the boss doesn't always know all his/hers employees.

Try to get to know your employee a little bit better by finding out his/her strong sides and weak sides. If he/she has messed up once, does not mean that there is a pattern to it.

Try to start off telling him/her about the good work he/she has done, but you are not that pleased with the latest effort.

If you really would like to keep your employee, then ask if you can do something in order to help him/her at work rather than demand better work.

The reason for poor performance can be many. Maybe simply a domestic problem, lost the love of his/her life. If so, then offer your employee a couple of days off work, but at the same time try to make him/her feel valued by adding on that it might be better to cope with the problems when working and get the mind to think about other things at least for some hours a day, and that you value the work that has been done, don't want to lose him/her etc.

By actually showing that you care for your employees, your employees will also care for you and your company. That makes better effort, more productivity and a happy employee want to go to work, he/she does not stay away sick for no reason.

If the person you have to talk to is a troublemaker, then you have to ask yourself if he/she is worth it.

Does he/she do such a great job that you can risk other employees leaving due to the problems created?

My personal opinion is that troublemakers (bullies and teasers) should be given the boot after one warning. Tell the employee that he/she does hell of a good job (If that is true, (Credit where credit is due)) but that the trouble stops immediately or he/she Will be fired, and that his/her good work will not keep him/her safe after this warning.

If there is trouble later, one must of course evaluate what sort of trouble it is/was. Any man/woman should be able to defend him/her self, even troublemakers.

If you have employed a person with ten thumbs and you really want to get rid of him/her because he/she simply does not fit in due to lack of ability, then try to find out what he/she is actually good at.

Give the person a date of when he/she have to quit, but try to suggest another line of work where you think the person would fit.

There is no need to rub it in that they have ten thumbs and cant even do simple work. In most cases they mostly know this themselves.

A person that is not very good at working with his/her hands will most likely be a lot better doing paper work or computer related work. Maybe you have a true computer wizz at your disposal doing bad welding.

If there is any way you can employ them in a different line of work where you think they might do better, then why not give it a shot.

On what occasion should you give constructive criticism to a friend?

There are certain occasions in which you would give them constructive criticism. You want to make sure that you get your point across, but you also don't want to hurt their feelings. Here is an example of one of the sitautions in which constructive criticism is called for: Your friend wrote a poem that she was planning on giving to her dad as a birthday gift. She first wants you to read it to see if there is anything that she should fix. So you read it, and there are a few things that you think she should change. You say something like, "I like how you rhymed every other line. That style really suits the poem. However, you forgot to rhyme these two lines." It would not be constructive criticism if you said something like, "You are a terrible poet. I am so much better at poetry than you. In fact, I am also prettier." I know that you wouldn't say that to a friend. There's no way that saying that would count as constructive criticism since constructive criticism is about showing them a way to improve without being rude to them.
