Nice question! You have to give stress to the skeletal system by way of exercise or out door games. You have to supply the vitamin D supplement in rather high dose periodically. You have to take or you normally take the milk and milk products. It contains enough of calcium salts. The grown ups and elderly can be given supplement of calcium salt. I recommend the calcium carbonate salt. Which is extremely economical. The absorption is less. But you can have that extra quantity.

It protects the vital organs in your body (heart, kidneys, lungs etc.) So, if your question is how to protect your bones from being broken, that is up to your actions. But you can help to build strong bones by consuming Calcium. If your bones are stronger that can help to prevent easily broken bones.
