ANS 2 - That's not anywhere near as easy as it sounds. I've done 2-3 and found the only realistic way to do it is rent a large heavy floor sander and sand everything smooth. Then apply sealer and special polish or new varnish. 2-3 days work, major dust and you need to remove all furniture.
