Did you ever get yours open?? I'm having the same problem.
when mine stuck, i climbed into the back removed the trim and manually pulled the release levers
How do you lower a stuck tail gate on a 1993 Dodge 250 pickup?
I once had a 1987 that had the same problem! On the inside of the tailgate, at the top ends, there should be a small lever. You can flip them one at a time and it will un latch the tailgate!
it has a dead raccoon stuck in it
when my 89 mighty max did this I had to push the tailgate in while I opened the handle. Once open adjust or graphite the connections
1989 Bronco11 back hatch door won,t open
In most cases the window is not stuck. The fact is, the tailgate is not make enough contact with the sensor(s) that prevent you from rolling up the rear window when the tailgate is open. To roll up the window, first try shutting the tailgate with some force, as opposed to lightly, to ensure that it is shut well enough to make contact with the sensor. If the window still will not roll up, with the tailgate closed, push forceably on the upper drivers side corner of the tailgate, while you turn the key to roll up the window. If this does not work, start checking the typical electronics, fuse, wiring, etc...
Coolant thermostat stuck open
Check the switch to see if anything is stuck in it. If the switch is otherwise fine, it is a problem with the electrical system. Open the fuse box and locate the fuse for the tailgate switch. Replace the fuse and try again.
I have the same type of problem. The spring on my handle is rusted and the handle gets stuck in the up position. Take off the inside panel for the tailgate, or at least the right side. You should see two nuts through an opening (the wireing is around this area). I havn't done anything yet, but these should release (at least part of) the handle.
It's stuck to the bottom of the truck. Pry on it and it will come down. Don't let it fall on you.
Check in the cargo area. There is a nut that lowers the spare tire on a cable hidden under a flap in the carpet. If the tire does not come down all the way then the safety catch is stuck. The tire will come down a few inches and hang by the plastic t-bone holder. You'll need to get underneath the car and either reach over the tire or up in the center hole to release it. It is thinner than the main cable and hard to get at, but with some effort and good hard tug it will release. It's a horrible design flaw. After you finally get the spare tire off, you should either lubricate the release catch liberally or disable it completely so you're not stuck again. I'm just glad it happened to me and not one of my daughters.
