How can you overcome ostracism due to bullying at your high school?

In my experience, I was bullied in middle school, and because of this situation had no trouble in high school. I believe everyone is bullied at one time or another. Anyway, it was me against 4 of my once close girlfriends and soon who ever they gathered on their side. They spread nasty rummors about me, threatened me, and of course pranked called me all the time. At first I was distrught, I thought my life was over, I started skipping school, and classes, and not attending lunch. then one day i grew tire of running from them and thought it would be better to get my butt kicked and have it over with, then to keep running away. I did however get some self defense tips from my cousins, before I made my move. At lunch one day I finally came to the cafeteria and sat down where I once had with the girls. They tried to make me move, threw food, called names, and when I wouldn't budge, one of the girls stood up and told me she was gunna kick my butt, so I stood up and said " Do it already then! I am so tired of you threatening me! You think you can beat me up then go ahead and do it!!!" then I got real close in her face and kept telling her to do it. She then began saying how she wasnt going to hit me first and blah blah blah, and that she wasnt going to get introuble over me... then turned and walked away. Well everyone saw this and when she left, people were coming up to me saying way to stand up for your self and then everyone started making fun of her because she had the chance to do what she ahd been talking about and backed down! the other girls called and apologized to me that night. HAhahah VICTORY!!!! bottom line is you have to face your fears, you may take a butt whooping but then who hasn't! Atleast they'll know next if they threaten you they will be faced with having to make good on it, it may deter them for fear of getting in trouble, or whatever. Hope this helps and remember you are not alone there are more people getting bullied then doing the bullying!
