Some printers have a wireless adapter, but most of them don't. There are two cases. You connect the printer to a computer which has a wireless adapter, or if your printer has a lan card you can connect it to your wireless router and use advantages of wireless networking in that way.

Go to START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES, right-click the printer that you want to connect to, click sharing, check the Sharing box, type in your printer sharing name and click OK. Then, go to your laptop, click START, CONTROL PANEL, PRITNERS AND FAXES, ADD A NEW PRINTER, and follow the steps to setting up a wireless printer. Make sure that you check the radio bubble that says, "A NETWORK PRINTER, OR A PRITNER ATTACHED TO ANOTHER COMPUTER. When you're finished, you should be set up. On the other hand, if it isn't wireless, then use the USB cord. -Zappy22 & wayoffline81

you need to include more information, is it a new printer, do you have all the components for it,there should be a bluetooth usb key that goes with this item. Insert the usb key into computer, insert disk(if disk doesnt start, go to start, run, browse, find your CD drive letter, click on it, then select setup.exe from the disk) if disk starts setup should go automatically.

This for windows:

1. Turn on the printer

2. Make sure it is connected to the network (your wi-fi) - this is normally setup when you install the software disc for the printer.

3. Go to Start>Devices and Printers

4. Select 'Add a printer'

5. Click the second option 'Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer'

6. Wait for the printer to appear on the list- if not select 'the printer isn't listed'

7. Follow prompts.

Can you have wireless printer connected to a desk top via a usb cord and to a wireless laptop?

Yes probably. However, there's probably some more logical ways of connecting your desktop to your printer. 1. Does your printer have an ethernet port? If so, use this to connect to your switch or desktop NIC directly. 2. Does your desktop have a wireless card? Use this and connect to your printer. 3. If not 1 or 2, setup a wireless access point or get a wireless router with some ethernet ports. You'll easily be able to connect all your devices this way.

How can you hook up your laptop to a printer without any cords?

There are four widely used systems and it largely depends on what you're printer supports. Bluetooth printers are available. So if your printer and laptop support bluetooth, it should be fairly straightforward to connect them. Wi-fi printers are also available, these are slightly more awkward to connect to the laptop as the intention is that wi-fi connects to a WAP (wireless access point), not all operating systems allow you to connect a laptop direct to a printer via wi-fi. A third option is wireless USB; this has two meanings: There is a wireless USB standard, for which products are starting to emerge. If your printer supports wireless USB, then that is the way to go. An alternative is a wireless USB extender, these are pairs of devices which can be used to interconnect devices. The fourth technology carries USB or UTP on the mains wiring; adaptors plug into mains sockets and allows you to interconnect devices using the main wiring.
