You can't. He will have to come to this realization for himself. You can make him aware of the red flags in a relationship, in the hope that he will recognize them when they appear - but convincing him is not normally an option. You also need to be aware of your own motivations. Are you asking for his benefit, or yours? Many mothers find it very difficult when their sons get older and find girlfriends. They feel let down, and even jealous at times. In Jungian psychology, this is labeled the 'negative mother complex'. This something that you have to come to accept, and understand. Be happy that you have raised him well, and try to guide but not control.
