File the appropriate return for the taxes you had withheld.

The IRS will always keep the money for themselves first. Only once you do not owe the IRS any money will they allow another creditor to offset that refund.

The IRS can audit a return up to three years after a return has been filed.
The stimulus check is not taxable if that's what you mean. Your 2009 return isn't due until 4/15/2010 by the way, 20008 is due 4/15/2009
No. The confusion arises because you essentially are given a "second chance" to get the stimulus. In 2008 you received (or in some cases, didn't receive) a stimulus chec…k based on the income, taxes, and number of children that you reported on your 2007 tax return (Form 1040/1040A/1040EZ). Because of low income or low taxes shown on their 2007 return, some people did not receive the maximum amount. Other people did not receive anything at all because someone could claim them as a dependent on their 2007 tax return. And some people did not receive credit for all of their children because the children were born in 2008. In 2009, you again calculate how much of a stimulus payment you are eligible to receive based ONLY on the information on your 2008 return. If this is more than the amount you already received, you get back the additional amount. If it is the same or less than the amount you already received, then you just forget about it and get to keep the difference.
The most recent complete IRS budget, up 6% from last year is $11.4 Billion. To collect over $3 trillion.. Divide 11,400,000,000 by 3,000,000,000,000...it's basically in the r…ounding of the .4 with that 11B
Generally yes..stae and federal governments cooperate.. The other side is....if you owe it to a government your going to end up paying it, and accumulated interest and penalt…ies, one way or another. You think your the first to try and avod doing so, and there is no system to nake it detrimental?
If the Irs spend 10 Billion to run IRS what amount did they clear after collecting the tax of that year of 2005Why can we not get them out of here and pay a flat tax saving money and being fair?
I am trying to understand how much after IRS pays all their cost how much profit do they make to help our country and if so, what does that money go to I am a single mom and t…hey are after me for not filing due to I was afraid and now trying to get back on line with it. Have great people helping me, but you should see how much they said I needed to pay and the interest rates. . Help me understand why this is so unfair! . Best . Gayla Answer In 2005 the Internal Revenue Service collected $2.2 Trillion worth of taxes . I haven't taken the time to verify your figure of $10B to run the IRS in 2005, but using your figure that would mean that IRS collects 220x the amount that it spends. Not bad, actually.
Absolutely. If you owe any government agency they will put a lienon your tax refund and it will be taken and applied to your debt. After this you will receive a letter showing …the amount take and towhom it was sent. You probably will get a letter from the agencythat you owe showing receipt of the funds and the balance stillowed or if your account is cleared it will also show this. The IRSdoesn't actually send out the money but it is done by anotherDepartment of Treasury Division.
