There have been more than 20,000 Baha'is martyred in Iran since the 19th Century when the Baha'i Faith began. In the 1980's, 10 young women (17 to 32) were hung because they would not recant their beliefs and become muslims. Historically, release of certain imprisoned Baha'is has seemed to have no rhyme or reason but, when it did occur, it was almost always after much suffering in prison. Some mass releases was occasionally due to a change in Iranian leadership (or revolution). It is impossible to say what the outcome will be (or how, or why) for the current Baha'i prisoners.

It will depend on the crime being charged. In Arizona, felonies have a limit of seven years, though some crimes have no limit. And being arrested is different then being charged.
