Make sure the door lock is set to the unlocked position, then pull on the door handle.

Is this by chance one of the rear doors? If so, make sure that the child safety switch has not been switched on. It's located near the door latch. Door has to be open to see it.
try looking on the door jams of the back doors themselves. it is there on my caddy.
you might have the child safety locks activated
terrible design by Ford. The inside door handle rod retainer is probably broken because i understand that they are made of plastic. You must take inside door panel off and inspect.
Yes.
Have you tried unlocking the doors from the driver side door master switch(if you have power locks)with the car off and in park? you SHOULD then be able to open the doors from the inside then be able to turn the child lock off if you want. Each manufacturer is unique, if this doesnt work call your local ford dealer and ask, they should be able to tell you.
Yes, it should fit.
Open the back doors of the car, there should be a switch between the inside and outside of the door.
yes
Doors for a Ford Explorer will not fit on a Ford Ranger due to design and size differences. Both share many similarities but are simply incompatible.
There are little levers on the ends of the back doors , about 3 inches below the latching mechanism that allow you to engage or disengage the child lock feature - assuming nothing is broken
