Information about working from home plus legitimate business opportunities, listing of companies that hire "live ops", telecommuters, etc is at Work At Home Moms - wahm.com from other contributors:

* I agree with the above person about Live Ops and wahm.com. I wanted to work at home and I didn't want to sell anything. So, I decided to find a career that is done at home traditionally and I came across medical transcription. As I researched it, I realized that most MTs do work at home, there are a lot of jobs available, and the income "can" be good if you work hard. I chose a top school- MT Advantage Career Center to get my training, and I now work at home and love it. Now, having said that, it's not easy. Learning MT was the HARDEST thing I've EVER done. The first few months out of school, you wonder why you ever went into it because you are so slow. However, after a few months, you see it paying off. Most average MTs make $18-$20 an hour, which is very good money when you are not commuting. I never run out of work. There are pros and cons w/ any profession but this sure beats working out of the home and I don't have to sell anything and alienate all my friends and family, * Of the at-home jobs that are available on the 'net, 95% of them are scams. I've been cheated twice. One way to differentiate these scammers from the genuine ones is: NEVER PAY ANYONE ANYTHING AT ALL FOR A JOB, NO MATTER HOW TEMPTING THEY MAY SOUND. This method has worked very well for me. Now I work for a very famous company. You could call them one of the empires of internet. I have not paid them anything at all. This, I believe, is the sign of a genuine job. Also, reputed companies won't try fraud, as their reputation can be at risk.

Most jobs advertising data entry are scams. Any job offer that request money from you is not a legitimate job offer. A job pays you. For every 46 job offers or work at home jobs postings you see on the Internet, about 1 will be a legitimate offer. Ask yourself: How is a company going to provide you with data entry or typing jobs over the internet if it is already in digital format? It's already digital, why do they need somebody for data entry job? Most of job posting are to sell you information on how to post ads for affiliate marketing, which will cost you money, you are on your own to do these jobs, and good luck in making any kind of money.

Websites and job postings for data entry jobs promising work from major companies making a lot of money for working a few hours a day to for purchasing their offer to access a "database of online jobs". These are not legitimate and don't waste your money.

The job outlook according to the U S government occupation and outlook handbook 2008-2009, predicts this type of work to be declining.

Advise from other contributors: If you are experience in data entry jobs, you might be able to find a legitimate online job, but at very little pay. You would be better off searching another exploring other type of careers

Websites that advertise themselves as data entry are usually not just typing sites. I've been working online for two years, and have been looking for a site where I was paid to type, but have never found one that is legit. Most charge startup fees, and fee = scam. You probably won't make any money with those. One of the things commonly advertised as data entry is GPT sites, where you sign up to let companies advertise to you. These are sometimes legit, sometimes not. You have to find a good one - again, one without fees, that has clear rules, and that has a reachable payout. Good luck finding a real data entry opportunity!

First, never, ever pay a fee to get a job. Many scams will want you to pay a registration fee, materials fee or information fee.

You will most likely not find a true online data entry job. What you will find are jobs that utilize your data entry skills along with other skills. Jobs like at home customer care representative, transcription, writer, proofreader, editor, blogger, telemarketing from home, mystery shopping, virtual assistant, and freelance projects are the most prevalent. You can also network with other home workers at Work at Home Moms - wahm.com is an excellent site with a forum with honest advise and opinions, where a very experienced community can help you be aware of scams.

Never, ever pay anyone anything for the training or expense of obtaining one of these jobs. You can advertise or put up local ads for typing jobs--university students and others will pay for these services. == You asked: "Can anyone put me on a home typing jobs or data entry jobs that is not a ripoff?" You know what you want. I commend you. My quest in the past was similar.

Should I come across that which you seek, I will gladly provide the information. Not everyone can do data entry because real data entry companies want people who can at least type 55 wpm (some even ask for higher speeds), they may also ask that you have 10-key skills (with a speed requirement), high speed internet, and may ask that you have or know certain software (such as Excel). Many people seem to think that just because they type on the computer that they can do data entry and it is not true. If you do have the skills listed above you may want to look into freelancing (there are plenty online) and you can place bids for data entry projects. Another option is starting your own data entry business. I would STAY AWAY from any data job that ask for money upfront. You should not pay to work from home! Try posting your job skills at a local college. Students often need papers typed. They usually pay by the page. wahm.com/forum/ scroll down and look at the folder titled : Transcription Never pay any fees for a promise of a job, it will most likely be a scam. A legitimate job is one that pays you. Data entry jobs:

diondatasolutions.net - DionData Solutions is a legitimate Data Management Service Bureau. Work At Home Data Entry Processors virtualassistantjobs.com - Word Processing, Data Entry, General Office Work keyforcash.com - is a website in the business of data entry services, that enables you to earn money by typing data entered into the computer at home. refer to links below

Real work-from-home jobs not only exist, these opportunities are on the rise as telecommuting becomes a more popular employment option. Many sites claim to offer such work, but any company that expects you to pay to work is a farce. The problem, then, is learning how to find legitimate work from home jobs. Below are three of the best places to find real work-at-home opportunities.

Craigslist

Chances are you have already visited Craigslist before and totally overlooked the Work and Gigs sections of each city page. While you might have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a good work at home job on this site, good Craigslist opportunities really do exist. While looking locally ensures that you work with someone you can actually contact, do not hesitate to check out other major metropolitan area, such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Before you invest a lot of time sending out resumes and trying to sell yourself to a potential Craigslist employer, check the information at the bottom of each ad to ensure that the position is open for telecommuting and that the position pays. Amazon Mechanical Turk

You have probably bought and sold items from Amazon. In 2005, the brand launched Mechanical Turk, an online crowdsourcing marketplace that gives work buyers and providers open access to each other. Tasks on this site range from small menial chores like labeling photographs to more advanced freelance work like writing SEO content. Best of all, any money you earn goes straight into your Amazon account from which you can shop, send the money to a gift card or transfer the money directly to your bank account.

Freelance sites

A number of freelancing sites have cropped up in the last few years, but some are better than others. Elance is one of the best because it protects both buyers and providers by using an escrow system for payments. Serious professionals prefer Elance to similar sites like Freelancer because it secures a higher average pay rate by penalizing providers who consistently underbid on projects. Joining most of these sites is free, though the sites take a commission off every job you secure.

While many of the freelance work at home jobs you find are one-time deals, some of the sites listed above offer salaried careers. Cut your stress while increasing your pay by grabbing one of these real work at home jobs today.
