2 feet x 4.5 feet. I just asked for the dimensions at Plant World (Toronto). Their sod won't be available until May 6 as its still too cold and wet (as of April 24) to cut. I remember sod being longer and narrower - nothing stays the same.
Roll the sod out on smooth black dirt. Push the sod strips together do there is not to big of a gapso the routes will not dry out then also sprinkle little bits of dirt on gaps along edges and joins to seal. Then water a fair bit to help establish a route system. And it should grow.
The size of a roll of sod at Home depot varies on the price that is being paid and the brand that is being purchased. It also depends on the variation of sod being purchased.

A roll of sod or turf, available at your local home garden center in North America, is 24" X 78" or 2'X6.5' I don't know if things are being resized but I bought sod today and it measures 16 inches by 48 inches from a national home improvement chain store in San Diego CA.
Sod is the grass that is grown and then you roll it out like a carpet. They call the places where they grow sod sod farms.
Sod is not always available at Lowes and can't be purchased online. You'll need to visit a Lowe's store to see their current selection and prices.
A professional installer will always roll, especially if it is for a residence. The exception is on hills or grades as it may shift the sod. Many new houses don't as they don't want the extra expense.
Depending upon your application, rolls of sod come in a number of sizes. Sod can be harvested in small square slabs, rolled rectangles, or large 4-foot wide rolls. 10 square foot rolls, called "Little Rolls", are 24 inches wide by 5 feet long and comes 50 rolls to a pallet, or 500 square feet (sf) per pallet. The sod height is approximately 2" thick with 1 ½" of blade and ½ - ¾" of root base. Each roll weighs about 35 pounds. These rolls are best for the small to average sized yard. 210 square foot rolls, called "Big Rolls", are 24 inches wide by 105 feet long and will weigh about 900 pounds. We have for rent a sod installation machine for the big rolls. These rolls are best for large yards Sod blocks, used in pioneer earthen homes were 2 feet by 1 foot by 6 inches thick. Footnote: British people call it turf. Sod has a negative personal meaning.
Typically, a roll of sod is 18" x 36". Two rolls of sod is about one square yard. One square yard of sod is about 9 square feet. Therefore, your roll of sod is approximately 4.5 square feet (you can also get that by multiplying 36" - 3 feet x 18" - 1.5 feet).
