Oedipus came across the Sphinx on his way to Thebes in Greece. The sphinx asked him "What walks on four feet in the morning, two in the afternoon and three in the evening?" Oe…dipus pondered on this question and then read his correct answer "Man." The sphinx killed herself for this was the correct answer. Humans crawl while they're babies, or the start of their lives (morning- start of day) making it four feet. Then they walk with two (in the middle of their lives- afternoon) and three nearing the end of their lives for they walk with a walking stick.
Oedipus knew and was made King of Thebes.
In Ancient Greek Mythology, A sphinx guarded a road. It let no food or water into the town. He said a riddle: WHOEVER CAN ANSWER THIS WILL BECOME KING! AND I WILL LEAVE YOUR T…OWN! Many were puzzled, until a man came along and asked what the riddle was. The sphinx said: WHAT WALKS ON FOUR LEGS IN THE MORNING, TWO LEGS IN THE MID DAY, AND THREE LEGS AT EVENING? The brave man chuckled and said: That's and easy one, its man. Four legs as a baby, two legs as adult, and two legs with a cane at old age. The sphinx let out a huge roar, and ran to the next town. The man became king of the town and the Sphinx never returned. I hope this was helpful!
