∙ 8y agoThe Middle East has never completely cut off sales to the US, since the oil producing countries need that income, but they have limited it severely to send political messages. In 1973, the Arab League created an Oil Embargo against the US and other Western States in order to punish them for supporting Israel in the Arab-Israeli War of 1973. As noted before, the embargo was a severe restriction, but not a complete cut off.
