There are no conversion calculators for this specifically, but a regular calculator will work perfectly. All you need to do is take the GPA under the 6.0 scale, multiply by two, then take that answer and divide it by three. The result will be the GPA on a 4.0 scale.

A 3.7 GPA on a 5 point scale is equivalent to a 2.96 on a 4 point scale. If you want to calculate your 4 point scale GPA without the use of a conversion calculation, look at your letter grades and find their equivalent 4 point GPA values. Find the average by adding all the values together, then dividing the total by the number of values.

Letter Grade = 4 Point GPA Value = Percentage Range*

A+ or A = 4 = 94-100

A- = 3.67 = 90-93

B+ = 3.33 = 87-89

B = 3 = 83-86

B- = 2.67 = 80-83

C+ = 2.33 = 77-79

C = 2 = 73-76

C- = 1.67 = 70-72

D+ = 1.33 = 67-69

D = 1 = 62-67

D- = .67 = 60-62

F = 0 = less than 60

*It should be noted that the imaginary lines drawn to denote what percentage range is, for example, A- and what is B+ change from state to state and school to school. Also, if you were graded on a curve, the ranges would be different. Your academic advisor or college counsellor can almost certainly help you with this.

Also, if you are planning to report your GPA to a college, they ask on which scale your GPA is, so you can put 3.7 and say it is on a 5 point scale and they will recalculate according to their standards, often unweighting classes and removing non-academic classes such as gym, music, theater, art, woodshop, sports, etc.

It's not clear that this is a legitimate thing to do because a 4-point GPA at one educational institution might have a different interpretation at other institutions that use the 5-point scale. Across the world there is a large range of ways of awarding academic grades. Please see the link.
