When you plug in your iPod to your friend's computer, stop it from syncing. Click on your iPod and select "Manually Manage Music." Then, go back to their music list and click and drag the songs you want into your iPod.
The only problem is you have to make sure to manually manage music at home too, because as soon as you sync it with your computer again, you'll lose everything that you don't have a copy of.
