I had this happen to me. The mechanic had to go in the trunk and open the door manually. I can't give exact details, but you should see a manual release for the fuel door. They had to replace the part on the fuel door that is controlled by the fuel door switch on the floor left of the driver's seat. You should be able to find this, if you will look inside the trunk.
