The Moon looks so large while viewed from Earth because it is large. Though smaller in comparison to such things as other planets (for the most part), it is approximately 238,856 miles away from the Earth. As a comparison, one extremely visible object in the night sky is Venus, due to its high atmospheric reflectivity. Without knowing some key traits of astronomical observation, one may very easily mistake the terrestrial planet for a star. The distance from the Earth to Venus is approximately 26,000,000 miles. That should put the distances in perspective (Venus and Earth are almost the same in size) as it is very clear to see that Venus is much farther from Earth than is the Moon!
The moon is incredibly small as compared to any stars that can be seen in the sky, although because the moon is so close to Earth, it looks large.
Because the distance the light travels through Earth's atmosphere is greater when we perceive the Moon to be on the horizon, and the atmosphere acts like a magnifying lens.
because the moon is bigger from space
The Sun looks the same size from the Moon as it does from the Earth, varying from smaller to larger by less than 1%.
Like a big blue and white marble. After we landed on the moon in 1969 a poster came out with the view of earth from the moon and that's what it looked like.
The moon is always the same size - it never changes. The moon only looks to get bigger and smaller because of it's orbit around Earth and sunlight hitting it at different angles during the month.
it is not big it just looks big.
Earth's moon is grey and has areas of dark other colors and has many craters. Seen from Earth, it appears colored because of the Earth's atmosphere. When the Moon is rising or setting it often has a reddish or orange color. Storm clouds may color it more blue. Seen during daytime it looks like a small white cloud perhaps crescent shaped.
The moon is very big about 1/4 of the size of the Earth (it looks small because it is a long way away). The moon is also solid (like the Earth) and thus there is no room in it to be filled up with shotgun shells. If the moon was empty then you would have to turn 1/4 of the Earth into shotgun shells to fill the volume the Moon takes up.
It is the Earth, which is bigger between the moon & the earth.
it seems bigger because the moon is closer to the Earth at certain times.
The moon is about 1/4th the size of the Earth.
