For electrical burns(charred/burned skin), you call 911. Then you cover the burn with a sterile bandage. DO NOT apply ointments, gels, or creams. DO NOT run under water or apply ice. DO NOT attempt to remove the clothing from affected area.
For third and electrical burns(charred/burned skin), you call 911. Then you cover the burn with a sterile bandage. DO NOT apply ointments, gels, or creams. DO NOT run under water or apply ice. DO NOT attempt to remove the clothing from affected area.
In any first aid situation the first step is always scene safety. You are not going to be able to help the injured person if you yourself become injured. The next step is to stop the burning process. Make sure that the electrical source is safely turned off. Apply copious amounts of cool water to the burned area. Assess ABCs. The electricity can interfere with the heart's ability to work properly. Also, remember that if electricity is involved there can be a entrance burn and an exit burn.
An AED is used to analyze the rhythm of the heart and determine whether it would be beneficial to the victim to administer electric shock. A conscious person suffering from minor heart palpitations will not get any benefit from an AED because you cannot administer electric shock to a conscious patient and the AED will simply tell you (at the end of its analysis) that "shock is not advised."
The person touching the victim will also receive an electric shock (not as powerful as the victim but a shock none the less).
So the electric currents from the AED do not transfer from the victim to yourself, thus, you yourself becoming a victim of shock if exposed to the currents.
The main symptom of a victim who has received a severe electric shock is usually white or very pale blue skin. Another symptom is bluish color to the membrane inside the person's mouth or under the eyelid, which are usually pinky in colour. The victim may also have a weak or absent pulse, burned skin and stiffness of the body. You should not consider this as rigor mortis. Before you administer first aid you must ensure the victim is no longer in contact with the power source, or if they are turn the power source off. If you cannot isolate the power, protect yourself with a dry insulating material such as dry clothing. With this try to pull, push or roll the victim. It is important you do not touch the victim. If the victim is unconscious you should administer artificial respiration/ventilation. The victim should then be moved to a medical facility and be observed for several hours.
An AED, or Automated External Defibrillator, is used in an attempt to shock a person's heart--who is either in ventricular tachycardia (V-tach) or ventricular fibrillation (V-fib)--into a effective heart rhythm that will cause the heart of pump blood.
The doctor will apply two paddles to the exterior of the chest and administer the electric shock. It may be necessary to give the shock two or three times to obtain normal rhythm.
Anything that's not conductive - such as a long piece of wood, or strong cloth.
The electric eel's adaptations is #1, the electric shock.

Electric shock is to electrocuted as burned is to cremated. Electric shock is the same as electrocuted, except that electrocuted has actually induced death; to kill by electric shock.

If you touch the victim while an AED is delivering a shock, you too will receive a shock.
