Viruses are mostly made of proteins, but they are living organisms that metabolize, breathe (respiration), develop (grow), respond to a stimulus, reproduce, and require proper temperatures/environment.

Viruses do not care who you are, they just take advantage of a susceptible host. In the case of HIV, the virus, transferred through contaminated body fluids, destroys the T3 cells, an essential white blood cell that is an important part of the body's natural immune response. With the T3 cells destroyed, the host/patient is highly susceptible to serious illness or worse from secondary causes. By the way, a person can carry HIV for up to 5 years and never show symptoms.

What percent of Americans who attract HIV will get the AIDS virus?

The difference between HIV and AIDS is a number. If you have the HIV virus, and your T-Cell count is below 200, then you are considered (from that point forward, regardless of your T-Cell count) an AIDS patient. That doesn't mean that everyone with HIV will end up with AIDS... but HIV and AIDS are the same thing; the difference is how much damage the HIV virus has done to your T-Cells.

Does viruses cause aids?

HIV is the beginning stage to AIDS. The introduction of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is what starts the condition. A human can carry this virus for up to 12 years (or longer with treatment) and eventually it will manifest as Acquired Immunodeficiency Sydrome (AIDS). HIV and AIDS are the same virus infection, where HIV presence is the first stage.

How diet causes aids and HIV?

Shut up. first u have to prove me that hiv itself causes aids. Actually u need to isolate the hiv virus first. The day they do one of those to things ill answer ur stupid question. Another Answer: Diet does not cause HIV and AIDS. HIV is a virus that infects T4 cells and a few others in the human body. AIDS is a syndrome resulting from a weakened immune system. Without the working immune system, the body loses the ability to fight infection and cancer.

Why CD 4 count is low in AIDS?

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.) HIV attacks cells (cd4 included) in the body that fight disease. HIV+ patients are given an AIDS diagnosis when they have reached a low level of these cells as a result of their HIV infection.

Is there HIV in semen?

You get the HIV virus from semen. HIV is the virus which causes AIDS. It passes from one person to another through having sex, or by sharing drug needles. When a new person gets HIV the virus gradually multiplies in the body (unless it is stopped with medication). AIDS is more like a weakness of the immune system. If the HIV virus load is very high in a person, then it is easy for them to catch pneumonia and other diseases. For a fit person these diseases are easily cured, but for a person with this weak immune system they are very dangerous and can be fatal.

If you did blood test and your blood is normal can you have a chance that you are infected with AIDS?

Certainly. Only a test which is specific for detecting HIV, the virus which causes the disease AIDS, can tell weather someone is infected with this virus. It does not show up a a by product of some other tests.

What parts of the body does Hiv and aids effect?

It affects your immune system, what happens is HIV only likes one particular cell in your immune system that is the T Cells (CD4 Cells) and it kills the T Cells off and the more T Cells that die from the virus the more likely you are to get other diseases, cancers, and illnesses. HIV affects the brain also, it can cause memory and cognitive issues regardless of CD4 count and viral load......HIV can also cause problems with balance and walking.......It is different wirh all people depending on the severity and progression. I unfortunatly suffer cognitive damage due to the disease...

What are the three stages of AIDS?

STAGES OF HIV Acute HIV Syndrome * First stage seroconversion * virus rapidly spreads to organs, especially the lymphoid tissues * HIV virus not very aggressive in causing diseases or severe symptoms Asymptomatic State * infection is latent * virus starts to grow and multiply in the lymph nodes Symptomatic Disease/AIDS * Viremia (spread of virus in the blood) * Loss of immune system, mainly due to infection of CD4+ T-Lymphocytes End stage Disease * immune system collapses * virus continues to slowly destroy the Immune System for up to 10 years * usually an opportunistic infection is the cause of death Without treatment, the average time from infection to AIDS is eight to eleven years.Without treatment, 78/100 percent of Hiv-infected people will develop AIDS within fifteen years of infection.

What causes AIDS?

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by a virus called human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Like other viruses, HIV can be transmitted from host to host. The main routes of HIV transmission are sexual contact, sharing contaminated needles, and transmission from mother to child (eg, via breast milk or during delivery of the child).

Is it possible for HIV to go undetected?

HIV is a nasty virus and may not be detected at early stages, you probably know that it messes up the anti body system and as time passes it kills enough and turns into the AIDS stage. I remember the key was early detection

Can you get aids by taking it up the arse even if your arse is loose?

you can get AIDS/HIV through any type of sexual contact, oral, vaginal, anal, etc. you can also contract the virus through transmission of bodily fluids such as blood, semen - especially if there is an open wound in the area of contact. However the virus is not in saliva so kissing is safe.
