Windows 2000 boot process?

As with other Windows Operating Systems, when you turn on your PC, it goes through an elaborate boot up process. It begins when the computer performs the POST (power-on self test), followed by the POST for each adapter card that has a BIOS, for example, your video card. The BIOS then reads the MBR (Master Boot Record) which is in the first sector of the first hard disk and transfers control to the code in the MBR which is created by the XP Setup. This is where Windows takes over the startup process. What comes next? Here's what happens: # The MBR reads the boot sector which is the first sector of the active partition. This sector contains the code that starts Ntldr which is the boot strap loader for Windows XP. The first role of Ntldr is to allow full memory addressing, start the file system, read boot.ini and put up the boot menu. IMPORTANT: Ntldr must be located in root folder of the active partition along with Ntdetect.com, boot.ini, bootsect.dos (for dual booting) and Ntbootdd.sys (needed with some SCSI adapters). #* default=multi (0)disk (0)partiton (2) WINDOWS #* [operating systems] #* multi(0)disk(0)partiton(2)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home" /fastdetect # Selecting XP from the boot menu causes Ntldr to run Ntdetect.com to get information about installed hardware. Ntldr then uses the ARC path specified in the boot.ini to find the boot partition. The one where Windows XP is installed. It might look like this: Ntldr, then, loads the two files that make up the core of XP: Ntoskrnl.exe and Hal.dll. These files must be located in the %SystemRoot%System32 folder. # Ntldr reads the registry files, selects a hardware profile, control set and loads device drivers, in that order. # Then, Ntoskrnl.exe takes over and starts Winlogon.exe which starts Lsass.exe (Local Security Administration), this is the program that displays the Welcome screen (If Professional Edition-the Windows Log On dialog box), and allows the user to log on with his/her user name and password.

How did Albert Einstein's theories affect the world?

Einstein showed that absolute time had to be replaced by a new absolute: the speed of light. Einstein went against the grain and totally dismissed the "Old Physics." He envisioned a world where space and time are relative and the speed of light is absolute (at the time, it was believed that space and time were absolute and the speed of light was relative). He asserted the equivalence of mass and energy, which would lead to the famous formula E=mc2Einstein challenged the wave theory of light, suggesting that light could also be regarded as a collection of particles. This helped to open the door to a whole new world--that of quantum physics. For ideas in this paper, he won the Nobel Prize in 1921.His paper concerning the Brownian motion of particles. With profound insight, Einstein blended ideas from kinetic theory and classical hydrodynamics to derive an equation for the mean free path of such particles as a function of the time.Einstein showed how to calculate Avogadro's number and the size of molecules. In 1910, Einstein answered a basic question: 'Why is the sky blue?' His paper on the phenomenon called critical opalescence solved the problem by examining the cumulative effect of the scattering of light by individual molecules in the atmosphere.Einstein later published a paper in 1915 called "General Relativity." General Relativity took over when Special Relativity started to fail. Controversy started to rise when Einstein released his second paper called "General Relativity."In 1917, Einstein published a paper which uses general relativity to model the behavior of an entire universe. General relativity has spawned some of the weirdest, and most important results in modern astronomy.Einstein recognized that there might be a problem with the classical notion of cause and effect. Given the peculiar, dual nature of quanta as both waves and particles, it might be impossible, he warns, to definitively tie effects to their causes.Between 1905 and 1925, Einstein transformed humankind's understanding of nature on every scale, from the smallest to that of the cosmos as a whole. Now, nearly a century after he began to make his mark, we are still exploring Einstein's universe. In 1924, Einstein received a short paper from a young Indian physicist named Satyendra Nath Bose, describing light as a gas of photons, and asking for Einstein's assistance in publication. Einstein realised that the same statistics could be applied to atoms, and published an article in German (then the lingua franca of physics) which described Bose's model and explained its implications. Bose Einstein statistics now describes any assembly of these indistinguishable particles known as bosons.Einstein and de Sitter in 1932 proposed a simple solution of the field equations of general relativity for an expanding universe. They argued that there might be large amounts of matter which does not emit light and has not been detected. This matter, now called 'dark matter', has since been shown to exist by observing is gravitational effects.this is everything he has done so.....Advocate H. S. Kalsi,Guwahati, Assam, India

How can you get good grades and be a good student?

Some Tips for YouYou can't necessarily become the best since you can't control what other students are getting on their grades. You can, however, be the best you can be. That is more important and actually obtainable. Here are a few tips: Use a planner or notebook to write down all your assignments when they are given. That way you won't forget your homework, dates of quizzes, tests or projects. If you plan ahead, you will not only be more prepared, but you should have less stress. This can be used to organize more than just the academic part of school. If you are in a sport, you can schedule in team practices, games, and strategy meetings. If you are in a club, then you can write down when your next club activity is.Do all your daily homework. This is good for your grade. I am personally amazed by how many students say they need a better grade but yet they do not always do the homework. It not only gets you a good homework grade but also helps you understand and remember the information. If needed, check over your work. The checking over thing especially applies to math classes.Do extra credit when your teacher offers it, even if you don't need it now. The teacher might not offer extra credit again in the near future, maybe when you need it. It could come in handy in the future if you don't do so well on a future assignment or test. It is always nice to have some of that cushioning, especially if you are on a borderline between two letter grades. In addition, doing some extra credit shows the teacher that you really care about your grade since you are willing to go the extra mile.Study more than just the cramming. It helps to study in smaller study sessions more than one large one the night before. Find ways of studying that help you. I find that reading the stuff out loud helps me because I'm reading it, saying it, and hearing it. That means I get in it my mind three ways instead of one when I just read it. But there are so many other techniques like flashcards, making study aids, burn a CD of you saying the material and then listen to it, form a study group, and rereading the chapters in the textbook.Take notes on lectures. Pay attention! Some teachers in high school take a grade on having your notes done. Getting a grade for notes means easy points for you. You get a good grade for doing something that will further help you with assignments. Even if you are not being graded, it is important to take good notes. Notes show you what your teacher thinks is important out of the chapter you are studying in class. Anything the teacher emphasizes will probably be on the test. So if he or she is repeating something, writes it on the board, or comes out directly and says, "This will be on the test," take note of that. Make some kind of mark or highlight it. Read over these notes and make sure you understand all of it. If you don't get something, don't hesitate to ask your teacher or another classmate. If you think you will look stupid by asking, think of how stupid you will look when you don't do so well when you're tested over that material.Stay organized. It stinks when you do your homework but left it at home or cannot find it in your folder. Have a separate folder each class and keep all your papers in that folder. It helps some people to make the color of the folder that same color as the textbook. For example, if your science book is red, use a red folder for all your science papers. Basic color coding helps you grab the right book and folder if you are in a rush.Be prepared. Come to class on time and with your needed supplies. Usually this includes paper, textbook, folder with all your papers, and something to write with. Your teacher should tell you what you will need. It is easier to just have it with you than to constantly ask people around you if you can borrow or to go back to your locker. These tips, along with others, can help you in your schoolwork. Be the best you can be.

What do you Mean dual tracking power supply?

It's a power supply with a positive and negative voltage, where one of the voltages tracks the other. For example: the negative voltage tracks the positive. If you regulate the positive to 15v, the negative is going to be -15v. This allows very precise symmetric power.

What is dual power supply in electronics?

AC is supplied to the input of DC power supply. One way to get to DC is to full wave rectify the AC sine wave. Basically you flip the negative side of the AC waveform to the positive side. You are left will all positive voltages varying from the peak voltage to zero and then back to peak. To make DC you need to smooth out the valleys and make them as close to the peak voltage as possible. You do this with various types of filters that usually involve a large capacitor. Once filtered you can use various circuits to either create a fixed DC output voltage or a variable output.
