Yellow and green mucus do not necessarily mean that a person has an infection. After the first few days with a cold, it is normal for mucus to change to one of these colors. ∙ 11y agoyes, it does. your body has beaten it, now it has to get rid of the trash so to speak. i recently tried a wifes tale method to beat the common flu. my work mates had been sick for up to 2 weeks prior to me catching it. they were taking medication to supress the symptoms. i did the complete opposite. i let it take hold. ate stupid amounts of garlic and chilli to raise my temp. went to bed, the fever hit like a truck with no brakes. longest night of my life. however, a panadole the next day, about 4l of fluids and i was into the bright yellow snot part. im better, they are still sniffling and taking codral etc. turn around time from first symptom till over it, 5 days
