Not always. You can sedate the pain by taking Lamaze classes a few months before you go into labor. Lamaze training is a special kind of training that involves the use of breathing excersizes. Use it while you are in labor and there won't be any pain if you do the excersizes correctly. You can find out more about Lamaze by visiting www.lamaze.org. yes and always give birth with a midwife or you could be putting yourself and the baby in danger. during labour you get contractions which can sometimes be v. painful but sometimes they are not so painful. as the baby passes through the vagina, the mother will feel quite alot of pain. but once the shoulders are out the baby literally slides out without much pain.

Yes, it is the most intense pain most women will ever experience, but it is a part of being a woman that also is so soon forgotten once the infant is seen. There is medication that can take much of the pain & danger away.
