Conifers are evergreens, pine trees. They are found wherever trees grow in general, but further north (or south) than deciduous trees can grow.

Most deciduous trees are angiosperms (flowering plants) and also called "broad leaf" trees, in comparison to the needles on conifers. There are, however, some deciduous conifers, such as the larch and tamarack.
This question cannot be answered easily as deciduous tree are not all conifers and some conifers are deciduous. Should the question be what do evergreens do that deciduous trees don't? If that is the case, drop their leaves in autumn is the answer.

Deciduous trees lose their leaves each year without the stem dying back to the ground. Deciduous trees are generally considered to be broad-leaf trees (as opposed to conifers with needles), but larches and tamaracks are deciduous conifers.
The Lodgepole Pine [Pinus latifolia] is a Conifer. It is also an Evergreen. Some Conifers are deciduous so it is confusing to use deciduous and coniferous as comparisons.
